Description: For generations spanning over fourteen centuries, countless men and women have persevered to preserve the treasures that were the words of the blessed Prophet. These narrated events, called hadiths, contain within them timeless wisdom for all who wish to benefit. This course will examine one of the most famous compilations, “The Forty Hadith” of the great Imam al-Nawawi. To enhance the learning experience for students, the hadiths will be arranged into the four rubrics of Imam al-Ghazali’s famous “The Revivication of the Islamic Disciplines”: devotional acts, social life, destructive vices, and saving virtues. Using this unique perspective, students will be able to derive lessons and appreciate a deeper understand of the overall vision of the religion by listening to the words of the last emissary from God to all of humanity.
